TorcFit™: the connection shared by iEXCEL

One connection for four implant designs

TorcFit™ is the implant–abutment connection used by Straumann's iEXCEL designs. The BLX technical guide describes a 7° conical prosthetic connection with an improved Torx-style index giving six positions.1 Straumann states that all four iEXCEL designs share one TorcFit connection with the same connection diameter.2

Why patients should care about the connection

Everything that sits on your implant (healing caps, abutments, the screw that holds the crown) must fit its connection exactly. A shared connection simplifies the parts range. And whatever system you have, knowing the connection helps any dentist find the right parts later.

Systematic review

Reviews of implant–abutment connections found differences between connection designs in marginal bone changes, while implant survival did not clearly differ. 34
