Your implant passport: what to record

Years from now, a dentist may need to repair a part of your implant tooth. They can only do that easily if they know exactly which implant you have. Your implant passport is that record.

In short
  • Ask for it at the end of treatment and keep a photo on your phone.
  • It should include the system, diameter, length, platform and lot number.
  • For Straumann, the platform (e.g. RB/WB, NT/RT/WT, NC/RC) tells a dentist which parts fit.

What it should say

  • Manufacturer: Institut Straumann AG
  • System: e.g. BLX, TLX, BLC, TLC, Bone Level Tapered
  • Diameter and length of each implant
  • Prosthetic platform, e.g. RB/WB (BLX, BLC), NT/RT/WT (TLX, TLC), NC/RC (Bone Level)
  • Lot number (sticker from the packaging)
  • Tooth position, date, clinic and clinician
  • Abutment and crown: type, manufacturer
