The Straumann Bone Level implant was the basis for Bone Level Tapered. FDA filings list Bone Level implants in Ø3.3 (NC), Ø4.1 and Ø4.8 mm (RC) with lengths of 8–14 mm, in titanium or Roxolid® with SLA® or SLActive®.12

How it relates to BLT, BLX and BLC

Bone Level Tapered (BLT) kept the same diameters, platforms and materials but added a tapered, self-cutting tip.1 The newer iEXCEL bone-level designs (BLX, BLC) moved to the TorcFit connection.4 Patients with an existing Bone Level implant should keep a record of the platform (NC or RC), because parts must match it.
