Replacing one tooth with a Straumann implant

Replacing a single missing tooth is the most common implant treatment. An implant is placed in the bone, an abutment connects to it, and a crown is fitted on top. The neighbouring teeth are not filed down, unlike a traditional bridge.

The stages

  1. Examination, x-rays and usually a 3D scan (CBCT).
  2. Placement of the implant under local anaesthetic.
  3. Healing while bone grows onto the implant.
  4. A scan or impression; the laboratory makes the crown.
  5. The crown is fitted, then regular check-ups.

Which Straumann implants are used for single teeth?

Straumann's current iEXCEL designs (BLX, TLX, BLC, TLC) and established lines such as Bone Level Tapered and Tissue Level are all used for single teeth.12 The surgeon considers bone density, the space available, whether the tooth is being removed on the same day, and the planned crown.

How long does a single implant take?
