Small implants that click a removable denture into place

Straumann Mini Implants and RidgeFit implants are Ø2.4 mm one-piece implants made of Roxolid® with an SLA® surface. Their top carries an Optiloc® attachment, so a removable denture can click onto them.12

A mini implant is not a narrow conventional implant

Mini implants are one-piece and are designed to hold a removable denture. A narrow conventional implant, such as the Ø2.9 mm Bone Level Tapered, can carry a fixed crown. They solve different problems.

How many are needed

For RidgeFit, the FDA indications state that lower-jaw restorations need at least four implants and upper-jaw restorations at least six.2 Conventional (delayed) loading is recommended if primary stability can't be achieved on all implants.2
