Roxolid® is a titanium–zirconium alloy (a metal). PURE Ceramic is zirconia (a ceramic). Both come from Straumann and both fall under Lifetime Plus guarantee terms.

What actually differs
  • Roxolid is still a metal; PURE Ceramic is metal-free.
  • The evidence base for zirconia is smaller than for titanium.1
  • Ceramic isn't proven to be 'healthier'. Choose it for preference or aesthetics, with your dentist.

Systematic reviews comparing zirconia and titanium implants report results that depend on the outcome and follow-up studied; the long-term evidence base for zirconia is smaller. 1910

Systematic review

Systematic reviews found that narrow titanium–zirconium implants have survival and bone-level outcomes similar to narrow commercially pure titanium implants. 1112

The reviews note limited numbers of studies and short follow-up (about 1–3 years).
